She is Scientific Advisor of the Directorate at the European Institute of Oncology IRCCS IEO. She was the founder and inaugural Chair of the Cancer Prevention Working Group (CPWG) of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and President of European Women Management and Development EWMD Italy. She is also Founder and President of the Top Italian Women Scientists Club of Fondazione Onda (Foundation Observatory on Women’s and Gender Health).
She previously served as Scientific Director of Fondazione MultiMedica Onlus and Full Professor of General Pathology at the University of Milano-Bicocca. She was Department Director at the IRCCS of Reggio Emilia, as well as Department Director and Deputy Scientific Director at the IRCCS of Genoa.
She graduated summa cum laude and, after graduation, worked in Germany and the United States.
Professor Albini is among the most cited Italian women researchers in oncology worldwide, with more than 400 publications and a Google Scholar h-index of 106. She is included in Stanford University’s World Ranking of Scientists.
Her research focuses on oncology, immunology and tumor microenvironment, pharmacological prevention, and bioactive molecules of dietary origin. She served as President of the historic Italian Society for Cancer Research (SIC). In 2018, she became the first Italian scientist not residing in the United States to be elected to the Board of Directors of AACR, where she also served on the Nominating Committee.
She is Editorial Director of the scientific journalistic magazine Cancerworld and Senior Editor of several internationalpeer reviewed journals.
She practices competitive fencing within the European Veterans Fencing circuit.
