I am Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Bremen and Head of the Department of Prevention and Evaluation at the Leibniz-Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology – BIPS, Bremen. As a senior visiting scientist at IARC I have supported the European Code against Cancer /ECAC) 5th edition. I represent our Institute in CPE and am involved in primary cancer prevention research, notably related to tobacco control, but also in physical activity and radiation protection research. As speaker of the interdisciplinary Leibniz-Science Campus Digital Public Health Bremen, digital technologies for prevention are also among my key interests.
Working within CPE offers a unique opportunity to interact with key European cancer prevention research institutes and leverage common strengths to advance cancer prevention. CPE actions for early career researchers and the multiple options for knowledge exchange are particular features of CPE that will make cancer prevention stronger over time.
