Professor Karen Steindorf is Head of the Division of “Physical Activity, Cancer Prevention and Survivorship” at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg and Full Professor at the Medical Faculty of the University of Heidelberg, Germany.
She has led innovative research on the role of physical activity and exercise in primary and tertiary cancer prevention for more than 20 years. Beyond that, she developed a strong research focus on understudied patient-reported outcomes, such as fatigue, sleep problems and cognitive impairments, with the goal to improve the quality-of-life of cancer survivors.
Prof. Steindorf has contributed to Cancer Prevention Europe since its inauguration as DKFZ representative. With her interdisciplinary background in epidemiology, theoretical medicine and biostatistics, she is currently leading the tertiary prevention working group, is member of the primary prevention working group and linked two of her team members to the Early Career Network activities.
